      Color Mixing – A Jump-Start Oil Painting Workshop for You!

      Have you ever struggled to mix the color you want? This is a painting workshop for you!

      We’ll be:

      • Creating a mixing chart
      • Painting a still life based using the color chart

      If you are a beginner or a just like to dabble, and you want to learn more; you want to learn the basics, then this workshop is for you!

      Have you ever found yourself admiring a painting and then wondering: How did they make that color? Do you ever feel frustrated while figuring out how to mix the exact color you want? Do you want a simple and easy method for mixing the correct color consistently? This is the workshop for you.

      In this beginner workshop you will learn how to keep yourself organized by setting up and using your palette efficiently. You will learn exercises in creating color harmonies, use of grayscale, how to work with contrasts and color temperature.

      These simple tried and true techniques will allow you more freedom in your painting process and faster results!

      You’re invited to join in the fun of bringing your artistic side to life!

      Please bring:

      • Your favorite paint colors including Titanium White
      • Paint box or paint pallet pad (okay)
      • Primed canvas at least 10 x 15 inches (Canvas pads are OK)
      • Princeton Paintbrushes, sizes 8 and 12 Flat
      • Painting knives (2) small and medium size
      • Roll of 1/4 inch masking tape
      • Kneaded Eraser
      • Gamsol odorless thinner
      • Paper towels and/or rags
      • Apron or smock
      • Gloves, if you like

      About the instructor: Peggy Cotton has been a Bay Area Painter for ten years. She has been commissioned by art lovers in Boston, New York, San Francisco, Oakland, Alameda, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, and Nassau, Bahamas. Her work has been exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art, The Art Institute of Boston, Frank Bette Center for the Arts, Aroma’s Restaurant, Alameda Towne Center, ArtWorks Studio and Berkeley Fine Art Studio.
